It's a horrible feeling- I am sorry you had to start your day this way.

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were walking in the city when a man stop him to tell HIM that his girlfriend was gorgeous. I was instantly upset - sure, maybe for an instant I felt flattered, but then I felt objectified and ignored- why couldn't the guy tell me? He had to tell my boyfriend as if I was some object used for parading around, not even worthy of addressing directly.

My boyfriend did not get it at all why I was upset. He said "what, take it as a compliment!" I told him it made me feel gross.Artsy Adminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14023138048828095714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1294327491308524431.post-82407391988867906072010-06-15T09:20:00.676-04:002010-06-15T09:20:00.676-04:00You can post stories from anywhere at Stop Street ...You can post stories from anywhere at Stop Street Harassment's blogAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1294327491308524431.post-62791592590678935932010-06-14T18:01:53.807-04:002010-06-14T18:01:53.807-04:00Thanks for voicing that weird paradox, of hating o...Thanks for voicing that weird paradox, of hating on them for saying something, feeling invisible when they don't. Happens to me, too. I let the street determine if I do / don't look good. It is maddening and you can't win. Thanks for sharing, not always easy to be honest. No Longer Activehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02253520055935683063noreply@blogger.com
