Today, Argentina became the first South American country to pass a bill legalising same-sex marriage. Argentina is a heavily Catholic and conservative country, so I'm assuming many were surprised that it passed.
"'We're now a fairer, more democratic society. This is something we should all celebrate," Maria Rachid, a leading gay rights activist, said as supporters of the bill hugged each other and jumped up and down after the vote."
This is freaking awesome. And this is what progress looks like. Hopefully, more of the United States will follow suit. *fingers crossed*
