April 13th is National Fake Clinic Protest Day! Stand Up and Speak Out!

April 13th is the National Crisis Pregnancy Center Protest Day! Join thousands of feminist students across the nation in the effort to expose fake clinics and demand an end to abstinence-only federal funding! To join the efforts on your campus, contact your Campus Organizer.

CAUTION! Criss Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) pose as comprehensive women's health clinics, position themselves near college campuses, and lure young women in with promises of free pregnancy tests. But beware; CPCs do not offer or provide referrals for birth control or abortion services. In fact, they often use misinformation and lies to deceive women and promote an abstinence-only agenda.

The FMF conducted a nationwide survey of college campus health centers and found that 48% of respondents refer students facing unintended pregnancies to fake clinics! Does yours?

Furthermore, CPCs are receiving MILLIONS of dollars in federal abstinence-only education funding. Study after study has proven that abstinence-only programs simply don't work. With STI rates among college students on the rise, we can't put up with this abstinence-only nonsense any longer!

Fake clinics are a clear and present threat to the health of young women. Stand up, speak out and take action on April 13th!

What you can do:
  • PROTEST in front of your local CPC! Warn women that it is not a comprehensive and neutral medical facility.
  • Collect SIGNATURES to de-fund fake clinics and demand an end to abstinence-only funding.
  • TABLE, FLYER and CHALK the campus.
  • Hold a RALLY, SPEAK OUT or TEACH-IN.
  • WRITE a letter to the editor of your campus newspaper, exposing fake clinics.
For more information on fake clinics near your campus, for ways to take action, or to join a campaign on your campus, contact your Campus Organizer or call 1-866-471-FMLA (West Coast) or 1-866-444-FMLA (East Coast).

The CPCs I know of have fetal development information, free ultrasounds, parenting classes, maternity clothes, free baby supplies (all donated) and information on adoption. Prenatal and Infant Care Education
Referrals to Community Resources and Agencies
Post-Abortion Counseling and Support Groups.

And recently, local pro lifers have assisted a young mother with rent and getting her car fixed.

Why would you want to deny a woman's "Right to Choice"?

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Planned Parenthood and similar clinics terminate the life of a growing human being for profit. They are not overly concerned with the health of their patient, as evidenced by the hugely increased risk of sterility, cancer, or even death that follows an abortion. Nor do they seem to care much about the law, as seen by the police force during an undercover operation in California, who arranged a numerous telephone conversations between California clinics and a policewoman posing as a fourteen-year-old girl. The policewoman informed many different clinics that she had been made pregnant by men of various ages, none under twenty. In direct defiance of statutory rape laws, the clinics told her that she could come to have an abortion, and that they would not tell her parents, in cooperation with their "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The police were not informed.
The CPCs refuse to cooperate in a murder. Is that any reason to attack them?
If the CPCs are "fake" clinics, then more power to them.

Both of the above comments omit the damage that these places can do. They intimidate, coerce, and provide misinformation to women young and old who are in precarious situations. They do not exist to offer "choice". Places like pro-choice family clinics offer adoption, parenting classes, legal aid, social services, and also abortion as options -- freely and without any judgement or shaming. A woman's right to choose means choosing anything -- really, anything -- she wants, without being shamed into making someone else's choices.

In response to hollo:

You say CPCs do not exist to offer choice. This is not strictly true; they do in fact offer the choice between adoption and keeping the baby. I, therefore, surmise that it is the lack of abortions that troubles you. But what kind of choice is that? An abortion is the murder of an innocent human being. The fact that the child is not wanted gives no one the right to take his life.
I support feminism. Women are men's equals; that goes without saying. But is it right, or indeed feminist, to provide a "service" that hurts women and kills children?
CPCs do not coerce or intimidate women. They show them the truth that others hide and the delicate beauty of their child. They tell them of an alternative to death.
And as for your argument that a right to choose means having anything you want- how would civilization fare if we applied that principal to law? If someone mugged a person on the street- well, he had a right to choose. If a man murdered his wife- well, he had a right to choose. This is no fitting banner for feminism to march under.

Which of the services we provide do you call "fake?" Our clients would never agree with you, as the services that we offer to thousands of clients a year are valuable and totally free.
We've never claimed to be a medical clinic ourselves, and are very careful to offer only factual, researched information. I don't know that I would say that about Planned Parenthood, which has just been exposed in their lying criminal activities in helping to cover up statutory rape and other serious infractions.

We've already laid out our opinion, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

We believe in giving women medically accurate information about all of their options. That is real "right to choice."

With all due respect, I must refuse to agree to disagree. Lives are at stake.
You believe in giving women medically accurate information about all their options. Good; so do we. But we also believe that the murder of an unborn child is a morally unacceptable choice. Not all choices are good ones.
