Call for AWC-DC Matrix Scholarship Applications

WHAT is the Scholarship?
The AWC-DC Matrix Scholarship is made possible by the generous support ofPRofessional Solutions, LLC www.PRstaffing.com and is hosted by the DC Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications www.awcdc.net in affiliation with theMatrix Foundation www.matrixfoundation.us. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a deserving college student each year at the annual AWC-DC Matrix Awards event in May.


WHO is eligible?
Eligibility extends to female sophomores and juniors who currently attend DC area colleges/universities on a full-time basis and study communications, advertising, journalism, public relations, marketing, graphic arts or a related field. Winners must have excellent academic achievements (overall GPA 3.0 or higher) and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities, which may include family obligations, volunteer work or responsibilities in an organization.

HOW does one apply for the scholarship?
Prospective candidates should complete the online application
http://www.awcdc.net/scholar_app.shtml and submit a 500-word essay about their communications career plans/goals. They will also need a resume, two letters of recommendation and a current, official college transcript.

WHEN is the deadline for applying?
To be considered for the 2009-2010 scholarship, all applications must be received no later than
Thursday, April 23, 2009, 5pm ET. Email to Ady Deweyady@ideasandvision.com. All late entries will be automatically disqualified.
