This Is What a Pakistani Woman Looks Like

With the Obama Administration's newly coupled policy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, those countries are pretty much a regular fixture on our TV screens. But what about the women? Yes, the resurgence of the Taliban and implementation of Shariah Law in the SWAT region are all major and real threats to women's rights in the region. But there is more to the women who live there then just the images of victims we are so use to seeing, and so regularly reinforced by the media. I have something for you to break those stereotypes.

Here is a blog post by Fatima Bhutto, the niece of assassinated Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Beyond the violent deaths that define this family dynasty (Fatima's father was "mysteriously" killed in front of his home) is the articulate voice of a young woman whose perspective into the politics of South Asia are really not
hing less than a treasure.
