ABC just announced that Diane Sawyer, currently the host of "Good Morning America", will be the new anchor of "World News" when Charles Gibson steps down at the end of this year. Sawyer's ascension and Katie Couric's place as the anchor of "CBS Evening News" means that 2 of the 3 major networks' news programs are now anchored by women. How amazing that something so novel only a few years ago is now the norm.
