First comes anger, then comes action

Okay, okay. So we all know that the Stupak-Pitts amendment is a massive threat to abortion rights and a giant F-You from Congress to 51% of the American population. We're angry. We're not going to take it anymore. So now what??

  • First and foremost--call your Senator. Call often. Let him or her know that Stupak-Pitts is not acceptable, and that you will not support any members of Congress who will not take a stand for abortion rights. Call the Congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121 or use the Feminist Majority's nifty online form.
  • Hold a protest on your campus and in your community. Visit your Senator's district office. Write an op-ed for your campus newspaper, explaining why Stupak-Pitts represents a giant step backwards for American women. Hold a letter writing/call-in group meeting for your campus group.
  • If you're in DC, join NOW's lunchtime Senate protests, November 16 and 23.
  • If you aren't in DC, consider traveling here to be part of the action. There will be a massive lobby day and rally on December 2, 2009, being planned collaboratively by all the major national feminist and progressive organizations. Many more details to come!

I would be interested in joining a chartered bus or plane if one is organized from San Francisco. I don't have much, but I think this is important enough that I'd do it anyway.
