How Have Budget Cuts Impacted Your Education? The Nation magazine wants to know!

The Nation is holding a student writing contest and the topic is: how have budget cuts impacted your education?

Now, wherever you are, I know you've got some thoughts on this! From elimination of women's and ethnic studies departments, fee hikes, consolidations and virtually non-existent classes, the stories I've heard from all of you are endless. What rings true in each and every case is that programs and services representing and serving minorities - women, people of color, LGBTQ population - seem to be the first things to go. Furthermore, when tuition is raised and scholarships are cut, minorities are the most likely to be forced out of the higher education system entirely.

I encourage you to submit your personal story and let everyone know why budget cuts are a feminist issue!

In order to be eligible you must be a student or 2010 graduate from an American high school, college or university. All submissions must be unpublished and you must submit them by June 30. Winners receive $1000 cash prize. For full details click here.
