Campus Organizers visit Santa Barbara

On July 13th and 14th, six interns from the LA FMF and two campus organizers visited colleges in Santa Barbara in order to form FMF affiliate student groups at each campus.

As interns with the Choices Campus Leadership Program, one of the main things we work on is to launch pro-choice student groups on college campuses nationwide. Our goal is to equip student leaders with the information and tools to help them fight for reproductive rights and gender equality.

Canvasing at Santa Barbabra City College on Monday and UCSB on Tuesday, interns like myself were able to get hundreds of petitions signed and help start FMF affiliated student groups on campus. During these visits we also make 5-10 minute presentations in relevant classes about the FMF and how to get involved, as well as hold information meetings for those students that are interested.

It was a great experience to bond with my fellow interns and work with them to increase awareness about feminist causes in the SB area.

If you want to get involved in a feminist group on your campus, visit our website or get in contact with one of our National Campus Organizers at campusteam@feminist.org. Who knows, we may even come to your campus as well!
