Picking Sides

In the contentious battle over abortion and reproductive rights in the US, many people are seen to be picking sides by, say, doing business with pro-choice groups or individuals. Anti-abortion groups often protest contractors who build Planned Parenthood buildings, for example.

Recently, the National Education Association rejected a proposal that would have put their position on abortion as neutral. This action has upset a number of anti-choice constituents.

Conservative blogger La Shawn Barber recently posted a piece about how by hosting the FMF's 2008 National Young Women's Leadership Conference that featured the late Dr. Tiller, the NEA was already showing their support for abortion. Barber is shocked that the NEA endorses abortion, and that they pick sides.
